Donations

In this report I would like to say a massive thank you to all the people who have supported us with regular donations of food and money throughout the year.

First the Money Donations

While most  give the money to be spent on whatever food we need to buy, there are a few who have made specific requests of what the money should be spent on. One lady gives money each month to buy toilet paper. She felt it to be a necessity that we had overlooked so therefore, on her request, we added it to our basket of goods supplied.

We also have a gentleman that gives money to ensure that we  buy tinned sausages which have proved to be very popular among the families.

Second the Food Donations

We have supporters who regularly donate food to our collection & delivery team in Silves.  Also there are others who regularly bring food donations to our quizzes and other events. You know who you are and a big thank you to you all.

We are very lucky that management of The Food Co in Guia has given a trolley which is placed at the front of the shop near the tills in their Guia store.

We also have a food donations box in Jaffers, Tunes. This is Also situated near the tills.

We receive a very generous amount of food. There is usually a mix of both something from our staples list and also assorted treats to add excitement to the food collection.

Our standard bag of food always contains a balance staples and fresh food. The bag is not intended to be everything that a family needs for 2 weeks, it is simply to ensure they have a healthy balanced diet with the odd treat.

Pasta

Tin of tomatoes

Tin or jar of beans

Tuna

Tinned sausages

Milk

Fresh Foods:-

Onions

Carrots

Potatoes

Apples

Eggs

Fresh meat (a selection from whole chicken, pork, minced beef)

And toilet paper

In addition to this they receive 1 other item from varied donations. It could be anything from cereal to soup or even personal hygiene items to household cleaners.

Plus 1 that they can select from what we have to offer.

This  is selected from our table of different items that have been donated. It could be sugar, flour, oil, packet mixes coffee, treats either sweet or savoury. The list is endless.  This extra item is always very popular.
