Donation from Blevins Franks

As a result of attending BLiP 2023, which is the Portimão Better Living in Portugal event organised by Afpop - Association for Foreign Residents and Visitors. We were invited to apply for sponsorship from Blevins Franks Wealth Management Ltd. We did apply, and in late November, we received a very welcome 700€.

Knowing that the December & Christmas food bags were already covered we decided to hold on to the money until January which is always a difficult month, as the sales that we rely on are always harder to achieve. This generous payment, therefore, covers us for the food bags for 12th January & half of the food for 19th January.

We work on a 2 week rotation so each week half our families receive a bag of food to last them for 2 weeks. This way we were able to help more people during the height of the covid pandemic.

A weekly food bag contains staple foods, rice, pasta, beans, tin of tomatoes, tuna and hotdog sausages. Fresh food, potatoes, onions, carrots, apples, eggs & milk. They also receive 4 bags of fresh meat, they can choose any combination from a whole chicken, 1kg of pork or 0.5kg of minced beef. Then we add 2 other items which have been donated into the trolley at The Food Co., Guia (formerly Iceland). One we select so that everyone gets the same, it may be biscuits, soup, tinned vegetables, cereal or similar. Then the families choose an item from a selection that we take to the distribution. These are the odds & ends, slightly different things, coffee, oil, cleanings materials, nibbles, things that are more of a treat. Finally we also have a lady that pays for toilet paper, which of course we all need!

The generosity of companies like Blevins Franks Wealth Management Ltd  are very important to us.
